The Dollyrots were in Austin yesterday for their Emo’s show. Lead singer, Kelly Ogden called to invite me to the “green” room before the show. We did some photos and had a great time. There are lots to show, but here are three four I grabbed off the stack today:

Chris, Luis, Kelly, and Quito before their show.

“The human body can remain nude and uncovered and preserve intact its splendor and its beauty… Nakedness as such is not to be equated with physical shamelessness… Immodesty is present only when nakedness plays a negative role with regard to the value of the person…The human body is not in itself shameful… Shamelessness (just like shame and modesty) is a function of the interior of a person.” – Pope John Paul II [1]

It’s funny how going forward with technology makes us nostalgic for the old-school stuff. Many photographers get a kick out of making a little square, one-of-a-kind, piece of art with Polaroid. It’s amazing how in-demand these old cameras (and whatever film you can find and afford) are.
I’m having fun with the camera I bought at a local second-hand store, and 600 film at Wal-Mart. The camera was only $1.99. But the film is a hefty $15 for only 10 shots.
This is an interesting version of the OneStep camera. If you’re interested in experimenting and making your own little Polaroid art pieces, you might look into other models, including the popular SX-70 which can use 600 film with a little modification.

Lizzie wanted to create an extra-special book of photos for her groom. She made the trip to Austin for a boudoir session with us. Glamorous, sexy, sensual, and fun.

Spent a few hours in Buda, TX last week to do some photography for Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash frontman, Mark Stuart. His new CD, Bend in the Road, will soon be ready for the masses. Sounds great, I have a couple of favorites already. The advance version is likely to feature this image:

We did lots of cool shots along some of the decorative storefronts in Buda’s retail area, as well as near the water tower. More images from this shoot later.
Rare Magazine readers voted 219 West “Best Happy Hour.” This was a simple little setup we did for their editorial shot.

Photo Info: ISO 100, 50mm, f/2.8, 1/250. I hit the bar with a shoot-thru almost directly above the items. Way across the restaurant (see first shot above), I hit the opposite wall hard with direct strobe so light would skim across it to add a little interest and depth, for shots featuring that angle. I wanted to convey that you could come in during daylight hours, or at night. I think this looks like either one.
