The other day David Garza and I did a quick series of pictures for an upcoming issue of INsite Magazine. This is one of David’s favorites from the set. I found it an interesting choice. This was not really shot on film, of course. After watching the videos from my previous post, I thought it would be fun to pay homage to Richard Avedon. The influence seems to be very obvious at times.

Liked seeing Avedon’s elephantic backdrop. Did you shoot David with any large mammals?

John – Unfortunately, no. However, I wouldn’t mind doing a musician and wildebeest photo some day.

was this a crop. Looks like he is wearing a guitar strap or an ak 47 I am not sure. I am going to assume it was a guitar. Nice clarity though and the contrast really makes the forground pop from the background. Looks kind of like he is looking forward, into the future or something. Nice capture.

Arnold – This one was shot pretty much as you see it. The actual photo has lots of white space on top, which was cropped out. I was shooting for the possibility of banner/text/headline above his head.
